Darlene Wesenberg Rzezotarski is a ceramic sculptor who has also played the role of teacher, poet, playwright, and puppetmaker. She creates small scale sculptural narratives chock full of honesty and humor. She references the tale and archetype in the ceramic works she creates. Her background definitely has helped her hone into three dimensional details of the stories she presents in clay. Her handling of material is very appealing to me. Though very skilled she has a naive charm emphasized by mark making, glazes, engobes, underglazes, lustres, and china paints. Her work within the scale of the figurine is none the less poignant despite the small size.
